Professional results at home
ColorTone nitrocellulose aerosols are designed for professional finishing, right out of the can. These aerosols are easy to apply, and perfect for new finishes or re-fins. We designed the lacquers and the spray nozzles especially for guitar finishing. Nitro lacquer is the traditional choice for fine instruments, and is what guitars from the Golden Era of the 1950s and earlier are finished with.
Everything you need to totally finish one instrument from start to finish. It's all there—from filling the pores to spraying the final clear coat. It's never been easier to get a truly flawless finish with simple to use professional-grade aerosols. We've picked the right stuff you need to get the look you want, no need to guess on what filler, color, or how much lacquer you need. It's all there and ready for you to spray your perfect finish. We've written up instructions for each set and our tech team is here to help if you have any questions.
Take a look at the fantastic finishes you can make:
12210 Antique Gold
This is the 1950s Goldtop you've been looking for. It's a dark and warm gold color with a metallic brass look, the perfect match of those original Goldtops. The color, sometimes referred to as Bullion Gold, is unique compared to more modern, brighter golds.
2211 Pale Gold
This gold has a lighter, slightly faded hue, and replicates Fender Aztec Gold or 1970s to present Gibson® Goldtops. This gold catches the light easily for a flashy look.
2212 Bright Gold
Slightly brighter than Antique Gold, this is what you think of when you see a gold bar. It's darker than than the Pale Gold, but not as warm as the Antique Gold. Used more frequently on modern Goldtops, Bright Gold is the most intense shade of gold. This is similar to Fender Shoreline Gold.
2213 Silver
This cooler toned silver will replicate Fender Inca Silver as well the base for a Gibson® Silverburst. A fantastic color that will work for vintage and modern finishes.
"I see a lot of vintage guitars in my shop. Most aerosols don't really come close to looking like the colors they are intended to. These ColorTone finishes nail the look of vintage beauties I've had on my bench."
—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Pro shops spray heated lacquer because cold lacquer spatters, requiring extra sanding. You should warm up your aerosol lacquer too, simply soak the cans in a sink of warm tap water. See our video with even more tips on how to spray a professional finish at home.
