Here’s everything you need for an exceptionally deep "dark back" finish without complicated and expensive spray equipment. Don't waste hours endlessly chasing down the materials you need, we've done the hard work for you!
This Dark Back set is inspired by the very dark tobacco brown finish seen on the back and neck of many 50s Gibsons. Many current builders use this finish with an aged clear or "natural" finished top for a totally unique and striking look.

ColorTone nitrocellulose aerosols are designed for professional finishing. These aerosols are easy to apply—even if you're a beginner you'll get a finish you'll be proud of. Nitro lacquer is the traditional choice for fine instruments, and is what guitars from the Golden Era were finished with.

Each spray can is 13-ounces, filler is a 6-ounce (170ml) resealable pouch.
Once you've sprayed the finish, we've got what you need to buff it to a high gloss.
Tip: Use warm lacquer for better results
Pro shops spray heated lacquer because cold lacquer spatters, requiring extra sanding. You should warm up your aerosol lacquer too, simply soak the cans in a sink of warm tap water. See our video with even more tips on how to spray a professional finish at home.
