Carbide Upcut Inlay Router Bits
Want better fitting saddles and inlays?
When you're cutting a saddle slot, you need the bottom of the rout to be perfectly flat for better tone transfer. Upcut bits leave the bottom of the slot perfectly clean, exactly what you want for getting tight contact with saddles and acoustic pickups.
Made of long lasting solid carbide, these bits will stay sharp job after job. They can be used with both Dremel and Foredom tools, routers and laminate trimmers, and CNC machines.
What type of bit do I need? In our shops we use both, depending on the job and the type of wood we're working on.
Upcut Bits cut a very clean bottom to the rout, with some fuzz around the top. These work well with harder woods like maple and ebony. We use upcut bits for jobs like saddle slot routing and clearing the insides of larger inlay routs like block inlays. They're ideal for deeper routs that need better chip removal.
For a very clean edge with the least grain tear out use Downcut bits.
