Heel Block Blanks
Craft your own custom neck heel block with premium woods cut in our Ohio mill.
Many acoustic and archtop builders choose to build their necks by gluing a separate heel block onto a thinner neck blank rather than cutting a "one piece" neck. This adds strength in this critical area and cuts down on waste.
Each blank is large enough to make a single piece heel rather than a stacked heel. There is plenty of material to dial in the final shape of the heel as well as the dovetail or bolt-on joint you are creating.
Choose top quality mahogany or maple
Used in traditional guitarmaking, genuine Honduran Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) is very stable, dense, and is one of the best woods to work with. It sands and glues easily, and routered edges stay crisp and sharp.
Our Rock Maple (Acer saccharum) is carefully chosen for not only beauty but also strength. Maple is incredibly strong and sounds great too—it's been featured on flattop and archtop Gibson necks for decades.
