A premium tonewood from the Acacia family
Tasmanian Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is native to southeastern Australia, particularly the island of Tasmania. It's closely related to Hawaiian Koa—both are members of the Acacia family—and shares much of the same appeal. Tonally, it offers a sweet, well-balanced sound with clear mids, warm lows, and shimmering highs that work beautifully for both fingerstyle and strumming.
Visually, the wood ranges from golden honey to deep chocolate brown, often with dramatic color shifts and subtle figure that make each set truly one of a kind. It's a joy to bend and takes finish exceptionally well, and delivers that boutique, custom-shop vibe that will set your next project apart.
All WOODSTAX items come with our 100% satisfaction promise and no-hassle returns. If you are unhappy with the wood once you get it, simply return it in its original, unworked condition for a full refund or exchange.
