Alder Body Blank, 2-Piece (9.3 lb) - 571

Alder (Alnus rubra) is the perfect all around electric guitar body wood: it's lightweight, effortless to work and finish, and it sounds amazing. It's an all-round great choice for building a guitar with great sustain and sharp attack.

Alder
Fender's main wood from the 1960s onward, Alder is a big part of what we know as the vintage Fullerton sound. Alder has a handsome, subdued grain that makes it ideal for both solid and translucent colors. The pale sand color makes a great surface for your custom finish.

Tonally, Alder is light-weight and produces an extremely resonant guitar or bass, with a focused midrange and bright highs and clear lows. It has excellent sustain and the tone is pure and clear, without unwanted overtones.

Alder is a perfect choice for first builds. It cuts, sands, and glues extremely well. Additionally, as Alder is closed-grained, it does not require filler. It accepts stain well and is very easy to finish.

The expertly center-joined blanks are grain matched, thickness-sanded, and ready for bandsawing and routing in your shop.
